Rish McGlynnMs. McGlynn is an avid environmentalist and human rights supporter. Beginning as early as 16 years old, she was part of a program exploring Canada, its environment and its people. Based in Ontario, she had the opportunity to visit Kahnawake and Kanesatake and speak with members of the community who were involved in and affected by the Oka crisis, visit Cree and Innu nations along the north of the St. Laurence river and spend time in Ouje Bougoumou, an amazing community that puts the people and environment first and is prospering because of it. At 18 Ms. McGlynn spent two and a half months in the interior of Guyana working with the native population providing training on HIV/AIDS, general health and hygiene, GBET (Guynan’s better education training) and assisting with community initiated construction projects as a part of a non-profit NGO. She then spent the next 4 years traveling around South East Aisa, South and North America, Europe and New Zealand volunteering and working on organic farms. Eight years ago Ms. McGlynn moved to Saint Marie-de-Kent, NB. After having a child and starting a business she moved to Moncton, sacrificing the rural lifestyle for easier access for her customers to her home-based business. After three and a half years in Moncton, she has opened a storefront offering the community organic solutions for their everyday needs and converted her front and side yards into organic gardens. With current state of government and its unwillingness to listen to the people, Ms. McGlynn feels that the people of Moncton South deserve to have someone stand up for their right to clean water, clean air, and a diverse habitat-sustaining crown forest that benefits everyone in New Brunswick. With such low voter turnout we are seeing a strong need for another choice on the ballot. Ms. McGlynn stands for strong economic development of our province starting at the ground up and fosters a more community oriented approach to politics. Support of more localized production, from food to textiles and everything else. Supporting local businesses and turning to the multinationals only when necessary will keep money, and jobs, in New Brunswick and boost our economy. The Green Party of Canada best mirrors these principles as can be seen the world over. Visit the Green Party website for more details.
