We had a great night with Jason Kenney at an outreach event in Uplands last night. Minister Kenney is one of the hardest working MPs. He spoke about how the NDP held Saskatchewan back for so many years and how the Conservative plan is working.

What better way to finish an evening of door knocking in Wynyard than with a round of 3-spot (kaiser) at the Seniors' Centre? They were all so thankful for the grant from our Conservative government.

I love door knocking...sometimes the dialogue goes to unexpected topics. I had a great conversation with a 5yr old yesterday about Minecraft. Thanks to my son, I was able to keep up with what the little boy was saying. After explaining some of our promises to his mother, I gave him some advice that I hope sticks with him: Never dig straight down.

Brad Wall doesn't want to leave the oil in the ground. Conservatives support our energy sector! "This is such an important sector to all of Canada. What we need in the prime minister's office and in a cabinet is a champion for our energy resources and that's what I'm concerned about, whether or not we'll have that champion."

There are some offenders so dangerous, so violent that we can’t allow them back on the streets. Our government introduced “Life Means Life” legislation to ensure that offenders who commit the most heinous crimes receive a life sentence with no chance for parole. A re-elected Conservative government will make “Life Means Life” legislation our top justice priority this fall. There are some who think heinous murderers like Paul Bernardo and Clifford Olson should still get a chance to apply for parole and release after 25 years. We disagree. Under our Life Means Life legislation, a life sentence in Canada will mean exactly that – a sentence for life.

A re-elected Conservative Government will lower the small business tax rate from 11 percent to 9 percent over the next four years. This tax cut – the largest tax rate cut for small businesses in more than 25 years – will provide $2.7 billion in tax relief to nearly 700,000 small businesses over this period. Justin Trudeau’s Liberals and Thomas Mulcair’s NDP voted against our tax cuts for Canada’s small businesses. In fact, Justin claims that most small businesses – “a large percentage” – are just schemes for wealthy Canadians to avoid paying taxes. This lack of understanding is disrespectful of small business owners and speaks to his basic economic illiteracy. Only Prime Minister Stephen Harper has the proven experience to keep taxes low and the economy moving forward. The Harper Government’s low-tax plan for job-creating small businesses will support economic growth and new job creation now and in the future.

This Labour Day, let's salute another group of hard-working people. They never get to add up their hours, put in for overtime or bank sick days. They also don't get to say that a task is out of scope, or somebody else's job. But the results of their work is the most rewarding of all. Let's salute PARENTS! Raising a family is the hardest job. The Conservative Party wants to make it easier to make ends meet. More support for every family and more choice for the real child-care experts: Moms and Dads

Labour may be working for the NDP, but the NDP isn't working for labour. NDP plan to leave oil and gas in the ground = massive jobs lost in the energy sector. Huge hole in provincial budgets as royalty revenues would plummet. NDP plan to block pipeline projects = more lost jobs, especially in the pipeline producing factories. In Regina, Evraz makes steel for pipelines and employs thousands. What will happen to them if the NDP refuse to allow new pipeline projects? NDP payroll tax increase = more jobs lost as it becomes more expensive to hire. All in all, while the NDP professes to be supporters of organized labour, their policies kill the very jobs of those in the unions they claim to represent. It doesn't matter how powerful your union is if the factory you work at shuts down.

Our Balanced Budget Act is not a gimmick. It is a useful tool to make it harder to run deficits in the future, and requires any government to have a plan to return to balance. We need only to look at the U.S. with their runaway deficits and the turmoil in Greece to see what happens when you don't have a serious plan to balance the budget.

National Post Headline: NDP would boost CPP within six months of forming government, Mulcair pledges Does Mulcair not realize that CPP premiums are a direct tax on payrolls? That employers would have to pay higher premiums? How will that help create jobs as it becomes more expensive to hire people? Making it more expensive to hire workers and do business in Canada will make us less competitive and drive investment out of our economy. This is a recipe for massive job losses!
