C’est à propos d’une entrevue que j’ai accordée à la BBC sur le référendum éventuel sur l’indépendance de l’Écosse. libIt was a pretty emotional Friday night for Zsuzsanna and me at the Liberal Convention. We met so many old friends and on every face I could see new hope and determination. So many of the people we met were at their first political convention and the halls were full of young Canadians from every part of the country. Some good people in the party have set up a scholarship in my name. It will help young Canadians with a track-record of commitment to public service who need a bit of help with the costs of post-secondary education. libChaired a refugee policy meeting at the Munk School, U of T, with Audrey Macklin, Canada's leading expert on refugee law. She pointed out that C-4, the government's new refugee bill, imposes mandatory detention of designated claimants for a year, without warrant or review. Is this your Canada? Liberals opposed this legislation in the last minority Parliament, but here it comes again, as bad as ever. Let's stand up against this by signing this petition, just as we oppose legislation to gut the long gun registry and new crime laws that throw more young people into jail without making us any safer.Oct 21, 2011 12:02 pm | Ontario, Etobicoke—Lakeshore
