We need our Canadian government to be a leader in responsible use of our natural resources, not selling off everything to foreign-owned companies for a quick profit, as the Conservatives are doing. Their motto: Short term gain, long term pain. The Liberal Party of Canada | Parti libéral du Canada will bring the right balanced approach.

Statement by Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau on Nowruz MONTREAL – The Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on Nowruz: “At the arrival of the spring equinox, those celebrating Nowruz will mark the changing of the seasons and the beginning of a new year in the Persian calendar. “As we spend time with family and friends, gather around the haft seen table, exchange gifts and share delicacies, may we reflect on the values of equality and renewal that are the foundation of this occasion. May we take this opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the immense contributions made to Canada’s rich and diverse national fabric by the many communities that observe this day. “Tomorrow evening, I will be attending Nowruz celebrations in Toronto, and I look forward to partaking in this joyful event. “On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus, Sophie and I wish all those celebrating Nowruz a happy 1394, and a healthy and prosperous year ahead. “Har Ruz etan Nowrouz, Nowruz etan Pyrouz.”

The Conservative government is well known to not allow it's members to say anything but what Harper tells them to and only stick to the script, no matter how ridiculous it may sound. Its good to see one of their members have the courage to stand up against this blatant racism from their party's own members.

Be afraid, be very afraid??? PM Harper wants Canadians to believe the sky is falling. When, in fact, the only thing falling is the GDP, the diollar, employment rate, privacy, liberty, household income, accountability, democracy...Canadians will not be fooled by the shell game to distract from the real failures of this government.

YOUR TAX DOLLARS ON SUPER BOWL COMMERICALS OTTAWA - The Conservative government must immediately end the wasteful spending of Canadians’ tax dollars on partisan government advertising, said Liberals today. “Time and time again, this Prime Minister has proven that he has no shame in spending public funds on wasteful and ineffective partisan ads,” said Liberal Finance Critic, Scott Brison. “Canadians are rightly upset that their government preaches restraint for everyone else, but spends hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on self-promoting advertising.” Since 2006, the Conservatives have spent nearly $750 million on partisan government ads. Examples of wasteful government advertising include: spending $37.4 million promoting the Conservative “Economic Action Plan” since the program ended, and an advertisement for the Canada Job Grant before the program even existed. The government has also repeatedly purchased expensive advertising during peak viewership time slots – such as during the NHL playoffs, the Super Bowl and the Oscars – and continually refused to detail the costs. “Canadians are right to question the priorities of this government, which would rather spend millions on partisan ads than invest in job-creating infrastructure or caring for our veterans,” said Mr. Brison. “This irresponsible and unethical spending must stop, and if the Harper Conservatives won’t do it, then a future Liberal government will.”

Let's focus on being united by humanity rather than being divided by religion. We are a better society when we work together and for each other. Please read the kind words I received from a parishioner: Dear Mr Khan I am a parishioner at St Luke’s Anglican Church Palermo and I would just like to say “Thank You” for all the help you have given our church. It means so much to us to get the church hall built. The parishioners have been so loyal considering we had no proper kitchen or toilet facilities and I am so glad that the older parishioners, who have been waiting such a long time for this new building, will finally see it come to fruition. Once again thank you so much your help is much appreciated. Mrs. Young

Last Sunday, I was able to attend their Church and present them with the long awaited construction permits. People attending the service were so thrilled. They actually had tears of joy. I am so proud that we are moving this project forward. I would like the thank the Church for their prayers.

The Conservative government continues to alienate by pushing out stereotypes and anger. Harper's views on public broadcasting have been very clear for a long time - if they don't regurgitate his government's messaging, they're against him. The men and women who work for our Canadian public broadcasters are working to bring the full picture and unbiased facts to Canadians, not just another arm for Harper's political spin.
