Dear friends, We’re about to choose our next federal New Democrat leader and the future Prime Minister of Canada. It’s an exciting and historic moment! Let’s pick someone who stands out in a field of strong candidates for his positive politics, good ideas, high energy and openness - Nathan Cullen. Nathan is a progressive, lively, passionate New Democrat with a good brain and a big heart. He's personable, forthright and even funny - in sharp contrast to Stephen Harper. He's a courageous advocate on environmental issues and has shown himself to be both practical and forward-looking on social justice, economic fairness and electoral reform. But most importantly, Nathan Cullen, like Jack Layton, is committed to doing politics in a different way. I'm persuaded that no one will beat the Harper conservatives on their on terms. They are ruthless, divisive, shameless and fraudulent. This is poisonous territory - and it undermines our future, our democracy and our country. We need leadership that carves out higher ground - and takes us into the next election with a politics of clear vision grounded in respect for people and democratic processes. Nathan Cullen offers genuine hope for a healthier, better, more sustainable future for everyone in this country. He inspires young voters, understands social movements and is open to new ideas. He really connects with people! That’s why he’s my first choice for NDP leader.
