I want to thank all of you who worked so hard during this campaign. I can't say enough about the dedication of our canvassers who were out everyday working long hours. Our volunteers on the ground and in the office were exceptional. Although we weren't successful, I believe we gave it our all and I'm proud of the campaign we ran. I also want to thank my supporters who were behind me all the way. I will continue to work for St. Catharines because I believe in this city.

Dear St. Catharines Residents, Everyone loves to have a place to call home. I am so pleased to call St. Catharines mine. It has been a privilege to serve you as your Member of Parliament since 2006. You have re-elected me three times on a focused plan to strengthen our economy, to invest in our community, and to create jobs in St. Catharines. I have worked hard to bring an unprecedented amount of federal funding to our city. These investments in St. Catharines have helped expand our university and college, improve our highways and bridges, and revitalize our downtown core. But I’m not done. I am asking you for the opportunity to continue the important work we’ve done to make St. Catharines better. Unlike my opponents, I have a specific and actionable plan for St. Catharines. Our community has gained a lot of momentum in recent years. Now is not the time to change course with untested candidates and risky, expensive plans. We must continue to move our city forward and build a legacy for future generations. As election day fast approaches, I want to thank those who have shared with me their vision for this great city. Over the past 4 years, I’ve heard from thousands of residents that are excited about the direction our city is headed. It is the personal stories I hear each day from families, seniors, business owners and job creators that make being your MP so memorable and drive me to continue working to make St. Catharines better. On October 19th your vote counts. Let’s keep up the momentum to create a vibrant community that works for you. Sincerely, Rick Dykstra

I've met a lot of people in the past 10 years that I've represented our city in Ottawa who are committed to building St. Catharines. Going door-to-door during this campaign citizens are telling me that they are focused on local issues and want local solutions. I'm running to represent St. Catharines. Together, we will continue down the path to prosperity, and we will make our community better.

Important all-candidates debate on 610CKTB at 1:00. Listen live and submit your questions. This election is about real, local issues and prosperity for St. Catharines, not vague federal plans. We've delivered more than $370 million for infrastructure, education and community projects in St. Catharines since I was first elected. I have the experience in Ottawa to work to help make our city even better. http://www.610cktb.com/niagaravotes/questions.aspx

Roberto the Pizza Dude - The Pizza Dude's Roberto's Pizza Passion on Facer St. - expanded into a larger restaurant with 10 employees because of the Conservative government's economic and lower tax policies. I talked to Roberto "the Pizza Dude" and he told me he'll expand more when the re-elected Conservative government lowers payroll taxes by 20% and business taxes by 2%.

A Conservative government is still committed to paying 1/3 of the capital cost of GO Transit service to Niagara. I asked Regional Chair Al Caslin to Ottawa last spring to meet with Transportation Minister Lisa Raitt who said: "Time and time again we've seen how municipalities and regional governments understand their future transportation needs. St. Catharines and the Niagara Region has the Federal government behind them."

The economy and jobs are the top priorities for businesses in Niagara. The Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce surveyed its members. The region's 7,000 businesses will be able to grow and create more jobs with our plan for a balanced budget, a 20% cut in payroll taxes and a reduction in small business taxes.
