Goodale, refused to stand up in Parliament today and support Saskatchewan and the energy east pipeline. Absolutely shameful! He should be standing up for Saskatchewan jobs instead of his political master! MP SCHEER CALLS ON GOODALE TO STAND UP FOR REGINA PIPELINE JOBS ANDREW SCHEER·MONDAY, JANUARY 25, 2016 Liberal minister silent on Montreal mayor’s denunciation of Energy East OTTAWA, January 25, 2016 – Regina-Qu’Appelle MP Andrew Scheer today called on Saskatchewan’s only Liberal MP to stand up to his former colleague, Montreal mayor Denis Coderre, and send a clear message that Energy East is in our national economic interest. Last week, Coderre voiced his opposition to the proposal indicating that he would do everything he could to block its construction. His comments come just a few weeks after he personally approved of 8 billion litres of raw sewage to be dumped into the St. Lawrence. During Question Period, Scheer asked Goodale: “Will the Regional Minister for Saskatchewan, assure this House, that he clearly supports the Energy East project and will he denounce the Liberal Mayor of Montreal’s divisive statements?” Goodale refused to answer. Scheer is concerned that the Liberals are looking for excuses to block this project. “We know that the Liberals are philosophically opposed to the development of our energy sector and the jobs that come with it. Mr. Goodale should show leadership on this issue and assure the people of Saskatchewan that he is fully behind the Energy East pipeline.” “Thousands of jobs right here in Regina depend on contracts to build the steel pipe for vital projects like Energy East,” said Scheer. “If it is rejected, Regina’s economy will be put in jeopardy.” - 30 -
