The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of State for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and La Francophonie, tours the A.F. Thériault & Son Ltd. facilities in Meteghan River, Nova Scotia as part of his summer tour of Atlantic Canada. The facility is one of the largest, privately owned shipyards in Atlantic Canada. Le français suit – French follows The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of State for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and La Francophonie, seen here, today joined ministers of the four Atlantic provinces to announce the five-year renewal of the Canada/Atlantic Provinces Agreement on International Business Development (IBDA). Canadian businesses in the region will continue to benefit from assistance for their export-related activities thanks to a $10 million investment. Since the launch of the agreement in 1994, IBDA funding has helped 200 Atlantic Canadian companies begin to export. It has helped more than 300 exporting companies define and enter new markets and has helped yet more than 450 others increase their sales and presence in existing markets. ---------- L’honorable Bernard Valcourt, ministre d’État de l’Agence de promotion économique du Canada atlantique (APECA) et de la Francophonie, (dans la photo) conjointement avec ses homologues des provinces de l’Atlantique, a annoncé aujourd’hui le renouvellement de l’Entente Canada – provinces de l’Atlantique sur la promotion du commerce extérieur (EPCE) pour une période de cinq ans. Grâce ænbsp; cet investissement de 10 millions de dollars, les entreprises de la région bénéficieront d’un appui pour leurs activités d’exportation. Depuis sa création en 1994, l’EPCE a aidé 200 entreprises des provinces de l’Atlantique ænbsp; se lancer dans l’exportation, plus de 300 exportateurs ænbsp; cibler et ænbsp; percer de nouveaux marchés et plus de 450 autres exportateurs ænbsp; accroître leurs ventes et leur visibilité sur leurs marchés actuels.

"I was very pleased to have this opportunity to meet with the Premier," said Minister Valcourt. "Canadians gave us a solid mandate to stay focused on the economy and pass measures designed to strengthen our economic recovery, and we are following through on these commitments. New Brunswick will be a key partner with our government as we pursue the next phase of Canada's Economic Action Plan."
