ndp16 hours ago | British Columbia, Victoria - MPndpIt has been a hectic few days in the House of Commons, sitting until 11:30 last night, til 8:30 tonite, after all day meetings. Thankfully, I attended a reception tonite to thank the pages who’ve worked in the House. I enjoyed hearing their refreshing views, and about what they’ve learned. Talked to three of them – all bilingual - from Victoria. One of them told me that what she appreciated most during her experience in Ottawa was seeing MPs from different parties sit down together and talk in a friendly way about issues. As a Mom it was difficult for me to understand how these incredibly brave parents could relive this tragedy. As Deputy Speaker of the House I am not able to take the lead on Private Member's Bills, but I will collaborate with Jamie. He has lived in Victoria and is the natural person to bring forward this important legislation.
