Rob owns Nick's Cafe. I've known Rob for over 20 yrs, first as a patron of Nick's when I taught at Dawson, then as a friend as our lives began to intersect more and more around community activities. Last night attended a great meeting of the Association for the Protection of Angell Woods expertly chaired by Stephen Lloyd. Also was interested to learn more from the association executive and from guest speaker Alan Desousa about municipal strategies to protect green spaces that do not require large outlays of taxpayer funds for property purchases. Thanks for the cap, Stephen.

I was in Pointe-Claire this afternoon with Quebec minister Geoff Kelley and councillor Rob Geller for the Polar Bear dip on behalf of Special Olympics. No, I was not one of the courageous people who jumped into the frigid waters of the St. Lawrence (forgot my bathing suit at home, really!). Congratulations to James Mousseau, Lindsay Worden and the whole Scotia Bank team who took part in the event.

This morning I had the great pleasure of attending breakfast at Baie d'Urfe Curling Club. The event was part of the town's 100th birthday celebrations. Thanks to Mike Finnerty and the CBC Daybreak team for coming out to the West Island to showcase our great community! It was nice to see Mayor Tutino, her councillors and so many citizens including wonderful former long-time mayor Anne Myles.
