If you have a chance this weekend, swing by the The Joint Cafe and check out the Bracelet of Hope Mural of Hope. Maddy Arbour is doing a great job so far!

Yesterday I rose in the House to pay tribute to fallen Guelph Police Service Constable Jennifer Kovach. Touchingly, MPs from all parties rose at the end of Question Period to observe a moment of silence in her honour.

It is with a great sadness and incredible feeling of loss that I learned of Guelph Police Service Constable Jennifer Kovach’s death while on-duty this morning. Bravely, she put her life on the line every day and tragically she was taken from us all too soon. During this difficult time, my heart, prayers and condolences go out to her family and to the men and women of the Guelph Police Service

Today is International Women's Day. Let's recognize our wives, sisters, daughters, mothers and all the other strong women we have in our lives and remember that we have to work harder to ensure gender equality for all women - here in Canada and across the world.

Saddened to learn of Lincoln Alexander's passing. He was a statesman and a leader, especially when it came to his beloved University of Guelph where he was Chancellor from 1991-2007. His impact on our community, on Hamilton and across Ontario will live on.

I was pleased to come into the office this morning and waiting for me was an award of recognition from the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs as a "Friend of Volunteer Firefighters". I am honoured by the recognition and steadfast in my support of volunteer firefighters, who give so much to our community

Happy International Women's Day. We've certainly come a long way, both in Guelph and across Canada; however, there is still much more work to be done for women across the world and, fittingly, rural women who are celebrated in particular this year.
