I won't be using this page much from now on since it is too much work to keep two Facebook accounts going. I would invite you, however, to become a friend of Janice Harvey, if you aren't already. That will be my default account.May 11, 2011 6:33 am | New Brunswick, New Brunswick Southwestgre
The vote splitting theories are now emerging, not surprisingly. This link takes a preliminary look at the accusation by Liberals that the NDP split their vote resulting in seats lost in the greater Toronto area...May 05, 2011 8:44 am | New Brunswick, New Brunswick Southwestgre
I wonder how the national media and major parties could have missed this little tidbit. Had they seen this, surely the climate crisis would have made it to their platforms and debates! But no, the Harper government sees the melting Arctic as opening access to oil and gas reserves under the Arctic Ocean!May 04, 2011 8:17 am | New Brunswick, New Brunswick Southwestgre

So it's tonight, almost. Polls close in less than four hours - and at 11:00 pm in Saanich-Gulf Islands. My goal: to see Elizabeth elected. I am trying to forgive the national media for sabotaging our party's national campaign. Let's hope a well and hard-fought battle in her home riding will make up for all the damage done.May 02, 2011 12:44 pm | New Brunswick, New Brunswick Southwestgre

Just got a call from a supporter who voted in the advance polls to ask that I remind you all: you need 2 pieces of ID to vote - one needs to be government issued - which proves your identity and your current street address - a PO Box does not count!Apr 29, 2011 8:43 am | New Brunswick, New Brunswick Southwestgre

Spent a great day today at the St. Stephen Middle School, first judging an oratorical contest, and then an all-candidates question session with the entire school body of 400 kids! They wrote and asked the questions. They will vote tomorrow morning as part of the national Students Vote program. I'm holding my breath!Apr 27, 2011 9:22 pm | New Brunswick, New Brunswick Southwestgre

This is a very reassuring assessment of the current standings - except for the fact that Elizabeth May will win her seat in Saanich Gulf Islands. I will blog about this a bit later.Apr 26, 2011 6:43 am | New Brunswick, New Brunswick Southwestgre

This is going to take a mass public mobilization to get fairness in our electoral system. How much longer are we willing to accept the dictatorship of the elites whose power depends on unfair election rules? Are we willing to stand up for our democratic rights?Apr 26, 2011 6:05 am | New Brunswick, New Brunswick Southwestgre

The Nanos, Ipsos Reid, and Angus Reid polling companies never include the Green Party as a voting choice. This explains why the Green Party numbers are so low in print and television news. Only the EKOS poll includes the Green Party as an option and we regularly show up at double the numbers in this poll.Apr 25, 2011 8:47 am | New Brunswick, New Brunswick Southwestgre

Four debates done now each one quite different. The first two had questions written by journalists with no audience participation. Wierd. The second two - St. Stephen and Gagetown - had questions from the audience - a very different tone and range of concerns. I have a column brewing on this one....Apr 22, 2011 8:54 pm | New Brunswick, New Brunswick Southwestgre

A reminder of the workers who are keeping an even worse catastrophe at bay. While the industry may eventually brag that they were successful in preventing a total meltdown, it will have come at a great human cost. I couldn't believe there wasn't a single question about the future of farming in our riding at the all-candidates' debate held in Sussex tonight. The ability to feed ourselves with healthy food produced locally by farm families who get a fair return for their labour is a priority for me. For our own family we buy chicken, pork and beef produced right here in New Brunswick Southwest and you won't find any better.Apr 19, 2011 6:34 pm | New Brunswick, New Brunswick Southwestgre
I am proud of our party for supporting this excellent proposal for reforming our food system. It these recommendations were implemented it would benefit farmers and consumers throughout our riding.Apr 19, 2011 6:30 pm | New Brunswick, New Brunswick Southwest
