  I was shocked to hear the news of Jack's passing. I, like many others, thought he was invincible, that he would beat this bout of cancer as he had in the past. I am really saddened and heart broken by this news and I offer my deepest sympathy to his family.

  Well friends, it's been an exhausting but fullfilling 6 weeks of campaigning. Many thanks to all those who put their lives on hold for this period to help during this time. I've never been prouder to be a New Democrat! Jack has captured the attention of Canadians because he really cares and believes we can make a difference! Together we can!!!!!

  Had a wonderful time canvassing with new provincial leader Adrian Dix in PG yesterday. We were on "Harper" Street and I can tell you that Stephen Harper is not a favourite on this street. Good support. Lots of people struggling to make ends meet and just want someone to speak up for them.

  Two all candidate meetings down and four to go. Met lots of seniors today and really got an earful about the state of their lives. All their expenses are rising and many are having a tough time making ends meet. It's time we treated our seniors with respect and gave the the support to allow them to live with dignity.

Unfortunately, we were unable to get a booth there so spent time talking to exhibitors - learned lots about some businesses there as well as some non-profit organizations.   Decision should be clearer now. Jack Layton promised British Columbians that if elected, he would not penalize B.C. for voting against the HST by taking away the 1.6 B Harper bribe. Harper says he will take back the bribe money and penalize B.C. - even after gathering millions in extra taxes since the tax was implemented!

  Had a great day in McBride. Did some doorknocking; went to the hospital and seniors residence; and attended the All Candidates Meeting. Off to Dawson Creek tomorrow. Had lunch in yet another restaurant that is struggling and will probably close it's doors within a year - owners say the HST is killing them!!!

  Had a wonderful day talking to seniors today. Sad to say that many of them are in pretty desperate situations - expensive drugs; homecare needs; and not enough money to pay for these things as well as buy food. Shameful that this is happening in a country as rich as this!

  Have talked to lots of small business people in the last couple of weeks and I'm finding strong support for our party. They don't like the HST; do not support tax breaks for the multi-nationals; and are looking for some relief for themselves. They are happy to see that someone is on their side.

  At the Fort St. John Trade Show talking with people. Had great discussion on health care with those at the BC Cancer Agency booth about health care. Those with younger families are concerned with their inability to afford child care. People are also concerned greatly about HST and the widening gap between wealthy and poor.
