- MPconAs the Member of Parliament for Burlington my thoughts and prayers are with the families of the three men who tragically lost their lives in yesterday’s VIA Rail train derailment. I also want to express my best wishes for a quick recovery to those who were injured in the accident. I would like to thank the first responders to the scene - the Burlington Fire Department, Halton Regional Police and Halton Region’s Emergency Medical Services, for their quick and professional response. Their work was outstanding. I also want to thank the City of Burlington and other emergency groups, including the Canadian Red Cross for their much appreciated assistance at the scene.
