In recent years, there have been precious few beacons of progressive light in Regina in the face of an onslaught of austerity and conservatism. One of those always willing to take a stand for communities, to listen to constituents and give us all hope that collective action can produce a society we all believe in in Regina Public School Board Trustee Carla Beck. I'm very honoured to have her support and mentorship: "Noah articulates a vision of equity and social justice that resonates with me. He has chosen to work defend and advocate for those traditionally over-represented in our judicial system and has proven his commitment to ensuring that those often marginalized are given fair representation. I know Noah to be a champion for those who struggle with mental illness. Noah works to both reduce the stigma traditionally associated with mental illness, and also to improve access to effective prevention and management measures, including advocating for policies and programs aimed at improving the social determinants of health. I appreciate that Noah does not appear to speak for people, but rather, attempts to engage in respectful dialogue with people so that he might bring their voice forward in am informed way and amplify it with his own. I deeply respect this approach to politics. Noah is a strong voice demanding a better future for all of us. That is why I am pleased to support him as he seeks the nomination for the NDP in Regina-Lewvan." Carla Beck, Regina Public School Board Trustee, Social Worker, and Regina Lewvan resident.

In the practice of law, one's reputation is earned through hard work, sound judgment and a commitment to ethical excellence. Andrew Hitchcock is not only one of my best friends, he is a legal mentor who reminds me daily that injustice must always be met head-on. I'm delighted to have him on my team: "I have practiced law in Regina's court system as Noah's colleague for more than five years. He is a zealous advocate who is not afraid to speak out against systemic injustice, advance the principles he believes in, and give a voice to some of the most marginalized citizens in our city. I know he will bring this same passion and dedication to Parliament, which is why I think he is the best candidate to represent our party in Regina Lewvan." Andrew L. Hitchcock, Regina Barrister and Regina Lewvan resident.

Grateful to receive long-time party activist Barb Dedi's endorsement for the nomination in Regina–Lewvan: “I am very pleased to personally endorse Noah Evanchuk, along with my husband Brian Howey and our family. "Although I have known Noah for many years, I have seen in the past few months how much he embodies the strong principles that I have spent my entire life fighting for: to ensure there is fairness, dignity and justice for all, and to promote celebrating our ethnic heritages and cultures." "His vision for new immigrants, visible minorities and First Nations provides a new hope to all that equality is important, and this dream is on the horizon with Mr Evanchuk as our MP. His openness to diversity is shown in his volunteer work with Mosaic and the Ukrainian community. It is time for our party to embrace an outreach program for all people to become involved and feel welcomed." –Barb Dedi, long-time labour activist, President of the Walsh Acres NDP Constituency Association and active member of the Saskatchewan Ukrainian-Canadian community

As many of you will already know, when I was 16 my older brother Russell took his own life. Not a day goes by where I don't wish there had been greater resources available to help him through his troubles. Mental health and wellness is every bit as important as physical health, and I'm glad that Tom Mulcair and the NDP see this as a priority. If I am chosen as our party's nominee in Regina Lewvan, I will pursue this cause with vigour.

Exciting news – Ryan Meili is endorsing Noah Evanchuk for the federal nomination in Regina–Lewvan: "Over the past 5 years, I've had the good fortune of working alongside Noah Evanchuk on a number of electoral campaigns, and been proud to count him as a colleague and a friend. Watching him as a candidate or a member of a campaign team, I am consistently impressed by his good humour and perspective, his deep commitment to social democratic values, and his ability to find meaningful connection with the people he meets. He is at once a skilled and spirited campaigner and a deep political and philosophical thinker: a rare and admirable combination. "Noah has chosen to spend his professional career defending the most marginalized individuals in society. This gives him a unique insight into the injustices that exist, and a personal connection to and passion for improving the lot of all. He recognizes that to improve the safety and health of our society, we need to address the underlying social factors that lead to dysfunction. This has led him to fight for social change on a larger scale, and to recognize that engagement in the political arena is one of the most meaningful ways of creating change. "I'm excited by the prospect of Noah Evanchuk, MP for Regina–Lewvan. I know he will use his voice in Ottawa to stand up for the people of Saskatchewan, and for a better Canada for us all." —Ryan Meili, Saskatoon Family Doctor, director of Upstream: Institute for A Healthy Society, former candidate for leadership of the Saskatchewan NDP

Nicole Sarauer has developed a strong reputation as a principled advocate for social justice in our community – I'm very grateful to receive her endorsement: "Noah shows a dedication to the community that I know will be reflective in his work as the future MP for Regina-Lewvan. The strong support he received in the last Federal election proves to me that he will be able to take this seat in the election. As a volunteer lawyer at our Regina Free Legal Clinic, I've seen him time and time again go above and beyond to help those in our community who are vulnerable and without a voice. It's these characteristics that we need in our elected representatives, and that's why I support Noah." –Nicole Sarauer, Regina Catholic School Board Trustee, VP of the Saskatchewan NDP and programs director/staff lawyer at Pro Bono Law Saskatchewan

Honoured to have received the following endorsement from Regina activists, parents, and all around great people, Naomi Beingessner and Daniel Holbrow: "We’re long-time NDP voters, but had never been party members, volunteers, or donors -- until we met Noah. "His dynamism, dedication, and deep connection to this community quickly drew us in. Since then, again and again, we’ve seen his ability to engage and inspire community members of all ages and walks of life. We’ve seen him make progressive ideas accessible and appealing to a broad range of voters. And we’ve seen the broad base of community support and goodwill he’s cultivated over the years -- an asset no other candidate brings to the table. "Noah isn’t only our riding’s best hope to send an NDP MP to Ottawa; he’s the candidate best-equipped to represent the concerns and interests of the people of Regina–Lewvan. Noah Evanchuk is the candidate this riding needs." (Photo credit: Taouba Khelifa)

As a fan of amateur sport, and a former winter athlete myself, I am always excited to watch the Olympics and cheer on the Canadian team. I hope our women and men put on a great effort and achieve the goals of faster, higher and stronger. In my view however, the Olympic spirit is not met when a host country prohibits its own citizens from simply being themselves. The criminalization of LGBT relationships has no business in a free and democratic society. So whilst we cheer on our team, lets remember that the struggle for equality still has a long way to go around the world.

My grandfather John Evanchuk was a Dieppe veteran from the Second World War. For most of his postbellum life he struggled to obtain the benefits he had earned for his sacrifices. It is an absolute disgrace that successive governments, whether they be Tory or Liberal, have continued the trend of treating our vets like second class citizens. I'm glad that the NDP and Tom Mulcair will not abide the recent insult to our vets of shuttering VA offices. Our vets, whether they be from the Second World War, Korea, peacekeeping ops or Afghanistan deserve the very best. I ask you to sign on to our campaign and show Stephen Harper that this will not stand.

I continue to follow the situation in Ukraine daily, as do the over 1 million members of the Ukrainian Canadian diaspora. This piece gives some further context to the nature of the protests. It reminds us why the focus for our federal Government should be to help young democracies develop democratic insitutions, rather than "picking sides". I truly hope basic civil liberties in the land of my ancestors can be restored without further bloodshed and violence.

On Remembrance Day my thoughts are with those Canadians, past and present, who have served, or are presently serving Canada in the Armed Forces. Today we honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and those who came back from war with permanent physical and psychological injuries in the service. As we remember, lest we not forget to treat our veterans, past and present, with the dignity and decency they deserve. That means ensuring that our wounded soldiers not be denied the benefits they deserve in terms of treatment and assistance. At a time when Canadians are serving abroad across the world in harm's way, we shouldn't be shuttering the offices of Veteran's Affairs or denying benefits to our vets. Lest we forget.

Reflecting on that time reminds me of the importance of local volunteer work and community activity in Regina. Some of my most interesting cases have arisen out of pro bono services. Frankly the fact that citizens of limited means find legal services out of reach due to cost is an acute problem that could be easily remedied.
