ndpOn Friday I had the opportunity to have a discussion on CBC Kitchener-Waterloo's The Morning Edition with Crag Norris about the 2013 Federal Budget. I was able to challenge KW MP Peter Braid on the fact that the 2013 budget contains absolutely nothing for the 240,000 Canadian youth who are unemployed. (Note that I am the past candidate for Kitchener Centre's New Democrats (NDP) and not the current candidate for Kitchener Waterloo)Mar 25, 2013 9:52 am | Ontario, Kitchener Centre

ndp"Peter Thurley, the NDP candidate who ran against Woodworth in the last federal election, said the MP shouldn't be spending so much time grinding his own personal axe. He should be focusing on matters of importance to a broader slice of Kitchener constituents, such as the economy and access to services and health care for immigrants and refugees, Thurley said. “Instead, Mr. Woodworth is traipsing all over the country on, essentially, his pet issue and I don’t think that’s a good use of his time,” he said. “It’s really disrespectful, in my view, to the people of Kitchener who sent him there to represent them.”Oct 26, 2012 3:51 pm | Ontario, Kitchener Centre

ndpIncoming President of the Kitchener Centre NDP Electoral District Association pens a Letter of Purpose to new Democrats in the Waterloo Region. I am proud to serve as Vice-President, with Cameron leading the charge. He writes: "We need to refocus what we mean when we talk about winning elections. Historical precedent tells us that we don’t win in this region. People tell us we won’t win. For us to win, we have to change their minds and build their trust and support. We need to stop thinking about an election as an 8 week period and instead see an election as the culmination of years of work building support in the community, and building the community around us. Our election is ongoing. It starts now."Feb 10, 2012 7:04 am | Ontario, Kitchener Centre

ndpKitchener Centre Conservative MP Stephen Woodworth was able to get re-elected largely because of deep pockets. With 40% support, he spent about $4.00 per vote, where our candidate, Peter Thurley, spent about $3.60 per vote. If twelve of my friends, and twelve of their friends donated an after-tax amount of $3.75 per month ($15 before tax credit), Kitchener Centre's New Democrats (NDP) would be able match Woodworth's financial arsenal in the 2015 election. I had no idea that was all it would take, and I bet if more people knew that as well, we'd be well on our way to funding a campaign to send Woodworth packing. Are there 150 people in Kitchener Centre fed up enough with the Conservatives to make this happen?Jan 07, 2012 7:40 pm | Ontario, Kitchener Centre
