- MPconI am in Calgary today to announce that the Calgary Child Advocacy Centre, a not-for-profit organization that provides services to children and families impacted by child abuse, will be named the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre. Sheldon had the courage to come forward with his own story, and he now works tirelessly to help prevent child abuse. This centre is a fitting tribute to his efforts, his dedication, his drive and his depth of character. Today, on behalf of all my fellow citizens, I would like to congratulate our very own space pioneer, Chris Hadfield, who is continuing in that fine tradition of pushing the limits by being named the first Canadian to take command of the International Space Station, currently orbiting the planet. His pursuit of excellence in his field and his achievements in space are a tremendous source of national pride and can most aptly be described as stellar.
