The Battle of Vimy Ridge began 98 years ago today. It was Easter Monday. This battle stands as an enduring symbol of Canada’s victories and sacrifices during the First World War. Today, let us set aside a moment to honour the brave young Canadians who were injured or perished and pay tribute to their sacrifice. We will remember.Apr 09, 2015 10:35 am | Saskatchewan, Palliser - MP

Last week, legislation came into force that modernizes the Criminal Code regarding electronic evidence. It is now a crime to distribute intimate images of a person without consent and other acts of cyberbullying. Over the past few years cyberbullying has gained more notoriety after the suicides of teenagers Rehtaeh Parsons and Amanda Todd who both experienced prolonged cyberbullying. This legislation makes it clear that cyberbullying is a crime.Mar 17, 2015 12:12 pm | Saskatchewan, Palliser - MP

With the 2014 tax season upon us, I’m pleased to relay that our Government is partnering with communities to help seniors, newcomers and our neighbours of modest means. The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) may be able to help you if you have modest income and a simple tax situation. I’m pleased to relay that there are a number of partners in the Regina area participating in this service. At these community organized tax clinics, volunteers can help you to prepare your return. Thanks to the Regina Public Library, SaskTel Pioneers, and the Salvation Army Haven of Hope for hosting these free tax preparation clinics and to all volunteers for helping residents of Regina to meet their tax obligations. http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/vlntr/menu-eng.htmlMar 17, 2015 8:38 am | Saskatchewan, Palliser - MP

Today, my colleague MP Laurie Hawn tabled Bill C-593, the Canadian Forces and Royal Canadian Mounted Police Former Members Personal Information Act in the House of Commons. This bill addresses a problem frequently heard from veterans: that they cannot access their own medical files in a timely manner in order to access benefits to which they are entitled. This bill enshrines their right to that information in law and puts the power to request that information and share it with the Department of Veterans Affairs where it belongs: in the hands of the veteran. Share this post and your support for our veterans and Mr. Hawn’s bill. Lest we forget. https://www.facebook.com/mplauriehawn#!/notes/laurie-hawn/mp-hawn-tables-the-canadian-forces-and-royal-canadian-mounted-police-former-memb/835201119827478Apr 10, 2014 7:31 am | Saskatchewan, Palliser
