Those who scale the world’s tallest mountain, Mt. Everest, have two main routes—the South Ridge Route and the Northeast Ridge Route. From Basecamp, the South route involves a climb of 3523 metres or 11,560 feet. Take the Northeast route and you have 3489 metres or 11,445 feet to scale. The fight against prostate cancer is a mountain that is far harder to scale than even Everest. And for me, this mountain is personal as it continues to affect my family and I have seen how it affects other families. Now, more than ever I believe that we need to “Step Up” because, in general, when it comes to their own health, men don’t. That is why I'm "Stepping Up” in the Prostate Cancer Canada “Step Up Challenge” presented by our generous friends at Scotiabank and made possible through the incredible assistance of Oxford Properties. The basic challenge is: 5 buildings + teams of 5 + 5000 feet of stair-climbing + a minimum raise of $5000 per team in Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto in the 3 Sundays from Sunday, Feb 21 (Vancouver) to Sunday, Feb 28 (Toronto) to Sunday, March 6 (Calgary), 2016. But the prostate cancer mountain is bigger than Everest and so I will be challenging myself to climb higher than Everest! I will be taking on 5 of the tallest office buildings in all 3 cities for a total of 4572 metres or 15,000 feet of stair-climbing! I'd appreciate your help in reaching my personal goal of raising at least $50,000, and/or, even better, give yourself a great New Year's Resolution--step up yourself and join or start a team. Together, we will make a difference for all men and those who love them--everywhere! Thanks to generous friends like you I've already raised almost $37,000. You can make a secure online donation right now for any of my 3 city climbs by going to www.stepupfordad.ca and clicking on Rocco Rossi Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto. A tax receipt will automatically be issued (for donations above $20) to you via email. If you would like to join me in taking part in the Step Up Challenge 2016I would be thrilled. For more information on the event and to register, visit www.stepupfordad.ca Thank you for making a difference in the lives of the men we love. And thanks to our national presenting sponsor, Scotiabank, and our building sponsors, Oxford Properties and their building management community partners for helping to make this happen!
