https://www.facebook.com/pages/Green-Party-Vancouver-Island-North-Powell-River/1461198850822173?ref=hl now up - please migrate there if you are in this new riding. Founding EDA meeting notice will be going out soon for end of November or early December so lots of time to renew your membership. Or join the Green Party of Canada now - because the other parties STILL haven't caught up with the costed platforms necessary to make those big changes soon enough.

Just a note to let folks know we're preparing for the Riding split for next election and are looking for people in Comox, Powell River, Area B & C and Vancouver Island North and north to help set up a committee and Electoral District Assn prior to finding a candidate. Message me if you're interested. Until that time, I'll use this page for updates on that process. Thanks folks.

Thanks so much to all who came out to hear Elizabeth May speak last night! She's definitely one of my heroes and I was thrilled to meet her and learn some more of the workings of Parliament. It was also a little scary to get a bird's eye view of the Harper process - it's as scary as some of us thought. So today, I say, hug a Conservative - they must be even more depressed about what their party is doing, than the rest of us. The folks I know that did vote Conservative, really didn't foresee the total erosion of democracy as a result. And after the hug...send them to talk to our MP about how unhappy they are.

Wants to remind folks in the Comox Valley and North Island that Elizabeth May will be joining VING at the Filberg Centre in Courtenay on Thursday July 19th. Elizabeth will speak at 7:30 and there will be a Q&A after. This is a free event - open to all so hope to see you there.

Happy Canada Day! I sit this morning contemplating what it means to be Canadian vs a good citizen of the world. Wondering why arbitrary boundaries define us so meaningfully - what is the vision of Canada that will truly unite us and allow us to move forward together in social justice, environmental repair and stewardship, equality and joy? I feel besieged be what appears to be a significant minority's vision of my country while surrounded by like-minded, passionate people working on so many fronts to better their own and their neighbours' lives and futures. I am grateful that I can still protest what I see as wrong-headed policies and actions that benefit so few. I am proud of our constitution and rights, and will continue to fight for them and the possibility of a fairer society.
