greMP Elizabeth May has tabled the first Private Members bill initiated by the Green Party of Canada in Parliament. Bill C-417 aims to curb the practice of shark-finning. While it may not seem to be a critical issue by some, we have the opportunity to demonstrate that the parties can work together and that other parties can follow the lead of the Green Party - and go from there. It's a chance for Elizabeth to build on a success. Please write your MP - of whatever stripe - and ask her/him to support this bill. http://tinyurl.com/797js3hApr 17, 2012 9:18 am | British Columbia, Vancouver Island North

greCanadian Centre for Policy Alternatives issued their Alternate Budget 2012 which is SO much more in line with Green Party and my priorities - and it is about priorities. We have the ability to reduce inequality, invest in the public good and save the environment - if we choose to do it. And I so choose. This is the fact sheet, but the whole budget can be seen at their site.Mar 21, 2012 7:20 am | British Columbia, Vancouver Island North

grethis is indeed worrisome if the gov't follows through with this wording and intention. gresalutes all those who have done so much work has been done on the North Island already to restore and save many wetland areas. we must all be vigilant and recognize the services these systems perform for us. greif I was just a little more cynical, I'd think that INAC was purposely underfunding reserves to force First Natons off the land. grePM Harper has countered outrage regarding Attiwaspikat that the feds have sent $50,000 per person there so they'll look into why it's not making things better. What? That amount must cover everything the community needs - education, health, all other services, infrastructure, housing. I'm betting off-reserve costs per citizen are a heck of a lot more than that. Just start with roads - $1 million per km. It's time to stop blaming First Nations for our broken promises, discrimination and locking them out of opportunity.Nov 29, 2011 4:22 pm | British Columbia, Vancouver Island North
