Andrea HorwathThanks to Equal Voice Toronto for honouring me last week with the EVE Award, recognizing Women in Public Life. I'm very grateful to be chosen this year. I had the opportunity to say a few words at the awards about the challenges we faced last week, and the challenges women face in politics, but also about my own hope, optimism and vision for a better province. Please watch and share. Thank you.

Scott TannasA transformed Senate is important for Canada’s future. We needs an upper house that provides independent, sober & effective 2nd thought, which gives voice to regions outside Central Canada, & that reaffirms democratic legitimacy.

Scott Tannas“Scott is the essence of what we all want in our elected representatives. He’s smart and he’s honest and he’s thoughtful. He cares (and listens to) what people are thinking about–what inspires them and what makes them worry. He’s a gutsy entrepreneur, a builder, always thinking ‘What can I create and add to my community?’ It’s never about ‘what’s in it for me’.

I’ve worked beside Scott for 10 years and I’ve seen him build a company, inspire his people to be better and with his wife Taryn, raise a remarkable family.

Albertans would be proud to have him leading us in the Canadian Senate.”

Scott TannasAs Senator, I will focus on economic needs. Western Canada was built upon the work of immigrants who arrived here 100+ years ago. Settle the land, built railways, & harness our natural resources.

Scott TannasAs Canada’s growth engine, Alberta’s issues are Canada’s issues. We need to have a strong advocate in Ottawa and abroad, who can educate and influence fellow Senators and opinion makers about Alberta and its important role to Canada. As Senator, I can ensure our issues rise above the petty bickering and politicking to get the attention they need.

Andrea HorwathGSA's are #GSA's. The Liberals should stop playing politics. Too many young people have suffered, too many at risk.

Andrea HorwathLeader +Andrea Horwath joined with newly elected MPP Michael Mantha (Algoma Manitoulin) to announce our plans to present a private member’s bill to take HST off home heating. Mantha: "Families in my riding, and across Ontario, are finding it hard to make ends meet. Energy costs are climbing fast enough without adding an unfair tax. Taking the HST off home heating will make life more affordable and put more money into household budgets and the local economy.”
Meanwhile, McGuinty's HST deal with Harper will soon see Ontario’s largest corporations writing off entertainment and other expenses, a move that will cost the treasury over $1 billion a year.
