The theme of my campaign has been “Build a Better Labrador”. It is exactly what I want to do if elected as the next Member of Parliament for Labrador. One of the most popular posts I have made through Facebook has been the post regarding the idea of building a road to the North Coast. It attracted a great deal of supportive comments and even had some suggesting that we build fibre optic lines and power lines to the North coast instead. The reason I was proposing to build a road to the North Coast was because it is the first step in achieving all of those other key and necessary pieces of Infrastructure that we are currently lacking. Another idea that I proposed was building a fibre optic line to the South Coast. This was again something that we need to see done, not just so people and businesses would have the ability to access many of the online features that their connection won’t allow them to use currently, but it is also about keeping the network secure from being knocked out of commission by something like a snowstorm. What I have been proposing through my campaign is the fact we need to start discussing and finding ways to move forward with developing Labrador. A road to the North Coast would lead to us to being able to build pieces of infrastructure that people want to see. We could achieve connections with our communities that will allow us to provide services in a way that have never been done before. These connections can spur on other ideas that would allow us to make things more affordable. Idea’s like a future power grid that could connect all the communities onto the Labrador interconnected system, getting rid of the oil generation plants that provide expensive power into a number of Labrador communities. These ideas are achievable, and they will better the lives of residents of Labrador but they take time and manpower to achieve. Currently we are facing the end of Muskrat Falls employment in 2018, with Gull Island unlikely to start until 2025. We will have a great supply of trained manpower of Labrador residents who can utilize their training to literally build these proposed infrastructure developments. This is why Labrador needs a representative who has a proven track record at achieving great things for Labrador. We need the leadership from our MP to be able to accomplish the infrastructure developments Labrador needs. I have a record of achieving great things for Labrador and I can achieve even more, that is why I am asking for your vote on Monday Oct. 19th because I want to build a better Labrador, and I need your help to accomplish it.

Over the weekend my family and I suffered a tragic loss. I am going to take some time to be with them during this difficult period. Thank-you all for understanding and your support.

NunatuKavut Land Claim I have had a number of people ask for me to elaborate on the statement that I made in the debate earlier this week that the NunatuKavut land claim had been recently rejected by the land claims secretariat. As you can see in the attached picture, what I was referring to was information I read on the Aboriginal and Treaty Rights Information System(ATRIS) on the federal government webstie. For those looking for more information please feel free to go to the following link: http://sidait-atris.aadnc-aandc.gc.ca/atris_online/Content/ClaimsNegotiationsView.aspx Search NunatuKavut, choose NunatuKavut Comprehensive Land Claim process and then click on the Claims and Negotiations.
