There has been a shooting of a soldier at the War Memorial down the street from Parliament, with reports of a suspect on the Hill. I am safe. MPs from all caucuses are in Centre Block. We are in a lock down situation with massive security, protection. Please pray for this soldier. TV will be your best bet for updates http://o.canada.com/news/shots-fired-on-parliament-hill-multiple-injuries-reported#.VEe6uJsAjjE.twitter

A Facebook Climate change chat invitation from our fabulous environment critic Megan Leslie..... Climate change is a key issue of our generation. Jack Layton knew this. Tom Mulcair knows this. And you know it, too. New Democrats are taking action to combat climate change, and fight Stephen Harper’s big oil agenda. On Thursday October 23, I’ll be at the Jack Layton Building in Ottawa to host a Facebook Q&A on climate change. I’ll take your questions on the challenges we face, and the NDP’s plan going forward. Join me on Facebook at 8:30pm EST on Thursday for a live chat: fb.com/NDP.NPD WHAT: Live Q&A with NDP Environment Critic Megan Leslie WHEN: Thursday, October 23 at 8:30 PM Eastern Time WHERE: Canada’s NDP Facebook Page This is a great chance for us to talk about a critical issue and what we can do about it by organizing in our communities.

I have had some questions on what exactly I did regarding getting the Habs back on French language TV. That's a fair question for those who asked. I spoke several times with Gerry Frappier, president of RDS. Heidi Bonnell, vp for Rogers, Pierre-Marc Perreault, CRTC senior executive, Donald Beauchamp, Canadiens VP, Gary Meagher, NHL public relations and Jack Nolan of Eastlink. And, most important, many irate fans that called, especially in West Nipissing. Both the NHL and Rogers admitted that they weren't expecting such negative feedback (HOSTILITY) and told me they were rushing to come up with a solution that would be acceptable to the people of Nickel Belt and all Northern Ontario. In my statement announcing the good news of a deal, I singled out Eastlink and the fans for praise. One of the special moments in this was the call from Sylvie Caron, daughter of the "Old Professor" Ron Caron, that Hab fans would remember. She was very mad she could not in Toronto watch the Habs on tv. She called RDS and was told a northern Nickel Belt MP was calling everyone to help solve this. Mme. Caron and I had a great chat about the Habs!
